    HAPY is the first sofubi toy created by Josh Wang, founder of BLACKPEARLS, in 2020—the same year the brand and its toy gallery were established. Amid the global outbreak of COVID-19, Josh drew inspiration from little demons to reflect on human nature, expressing the idea that good and evil are not absolute.

    The name “HAPY,” a playful take on “happy,” was chosen to bring a sense of joy during a difficult time. Through HAPY, Josh hoped to remind people to seek light even in darkness.

    With its cute look and deeper meaning, HAPY became the symbolic character of BLACKPEARLS and has since captured hearts worldwide.
